Here are some of our plans:
Most of our grant funding will go towards buying sunscreen and coordinating distribution drives. By distributing sunscreen, we are eliminating a barrier that prevents many people from protecting their skin. They won’t have to go to a store and spend money, they will get the sunscreen for free!
Education about skin cancer is vital. Why would someone wear sunscreen if they don’t know why it is important? We will deliver presentations on skin cancer and skin cancer prevention to schools in central/northern New Jersey. More people will want to wear sunscreen if they know the risks associated with sun damage!
Along with sunscreen drives and presentations, we will use some of our grant funding to create and distribute educational materials. Flyers about skin cancer and the importance of skin cancer prevention will educate communities, not just the students who receive them. Parents and other adults will also read these flyers, encouraging them to protect themselves, too!
